Resolume Arena freezes then goes to black screen

Post by ramapranawa »

Hello guys ! i am having a problem lately, my resolume suddenly freezes and then goes to black screen. Here are the specs of my laptop :

Lenovo Legion 5 16IRX9
Intel Core i7-14650HX
RTX 4060 8GB
16GB RAM

The composition is 3072x1280. i used a Type C cable for the display output.

This happened in the middle of a show, My laptop and the display output freezes when i started playing a video (ive played several videos before the freeze happened and it went fine.). When the freeze happened, i tried clicking on my laptop and there is no response, and the screen suddenly goes black. I could not do anything except restarting my laptop. After i restarted my laptop, windows started configuring updates and it is some of the longest few minutes of my life, as the show still keeps on going with a black LED background. After that, i opened resolume again, and thankfully the show went fine until the end. This problem have happened before and i cant quiet find the solution yet. I have tried solutions like updating my drivers, converting all videos to DXV (which i still do until now), tried dGPU mode, and it still happened. I hope i can find answers to this problem so it doesnt happen again in the future. Thank you !

Heres the link for the logs if it could do some help to review the problem. Thank you.

One good idea is always to pause Windows updates (and other updates) while running a show, so there is no update download and installation running in the background which might destabilize your system.

Thank you, i will try doing that. By the way, do windows also run their updates offline ? because i was offline during that show.

Could be failing hardware too. SSD-s dying can produce similar weirdness.

Do do see high RAM and VRAM usage when you see slowdowns?

Hello Zoltan, i havent tried seeing them. Maybe i should have someone from a service center to check out if there are any hardware issues. If thats really the case its very unfortunate because i just bought this laptop a few months ago. Thank you

There are easy to use utilites to check disks for reading,
https://www.hdtune.com is one I like, try a benchmark, and then do a read only error scan with it.

Windows downloads updates in the background and applies them next shutdown/startup. You probably had some updates downloaded already but did not restart the machine. Remember that closing the lid of a laptop generally only puts it to sleep, it does not actually shut it down.
