Avenue with Logic 9 - Problems

Hi gear mates.

I wanted to use a (I thought so) VERY simple setup on one quite fast Macbook, playing an audio file in Logic 9 which should start a video clip in Avenue via Midi. (no effects used in Avenue)
Basically it works, BUT in the beginning the clip delays for some seconds and then continues, so its no more in synch to the audio.
Any idea on which of the three sides (Avenue, Logic, IAC driver) a problem could be?
I am testing for days and getting crazy!

Backing info:
I made a composition in Avenue with 24 clips for the whole show and a Midi mapping to trigger those (they are each about 4min. long) I made 24 separate Logic songs, each with the audio file and a sequence that contains the fitting midi note to trigger the clip. Problem as described above: When I press play in Logic, the clip stays for some seconds at the first pictures. To compare it: When I tested the Midi connection manually with a midi keyboard, the clips started properly and tight when pressing the keys. I am not using Midi clock as in my opinion the clip and the audio have the same tempo and should therefore run together anyway - and it did not made a change...

MANY thanks for hints, our next gigs are getting nearer ;)

Check your MIDI sync preferences in Logic to make sure there is no delay set for All Midi Output and/or your Midi Sync Project Settings for Delay transmission by.

Many thanks Oaktown,
I already did that, there is no delay typed in that 2 Logic preferences!

the clip stays for some seconds at the first picture
you could check that resolume doesn't send that midi signal back, and then logic back again, so you don't have a feedback loop.

Hi Ravensc,

thanks, that sounds interesting and when I look on the Logic midi input window there is some activity!
But the midi out in the resolume midi preferences is switched off, so I don't know how else I could stop it from there.
Maybe the problem is the Macs IAC driver. But it seems that you can not switch something there which would avoid Midi feedback. My version. is 3.05., a newer one is available, but I could not download it somewhere solo...

A midi loop could look like as if the clip is triggered continuosly for a few seconds, and only showing the start frames.

I tried in resolume how it would react to a loop in midi signal route, finally the UI stopped responding, I just see the beachball spinning....
I have a message in the console:
2015.05.26. 21:30:11,356 MIDIServer[2582]: feedback loop from MIDI source 0x7f83b3e15f00
that the loop is detected by osx,
notice the other messages in the log.
(this is resolume alone switched on the midi input and output on an IAC midi )
phpBB [video]

anyway, do you have the beat snap switched off for the clip and also for the composition?

Hi Ravensc,

many thanks, the beatsnap for both is off!
the idea with a midi loop might be right, but I find no more parameters to avoid it. Maybe its caused by the IAC driver and an update to Yosemite with the newest IAC version could help, but thats a very vague idea ;)

Hi,
problem still not resolved! I found a link deleting the "midi loop" in the logic environment, but even this did not help.
The midi connection is terrible! When I manually select a note in the Logic event video, Avenue plays the video, but when I press "play" on Logic nothing happens… strange! and Avenue again crashes when triggering the notes in Logic…
Tonight I will have a test if its the same with Ableton (have to learn that program first)
