Default Application Key Mapping and X-Keys

We just added two Arena systems to our studio. I am working on simple, effective, repeatable recall of clips and overlays. My first experiment is key mapping and an X-keys panel. The default key mapping does not work. I then tried adding custom key mappings. The local keyboard can use the custom mapping but I cannot get Resolume to recognize keyboard commands from the X-keys panel. I have tested the X-keys with a WordPad document and X-keys is working. Am I missing something?

I am using Arena 4. The hardware is HP Z400 with Nvidia video card with Win7
Thank you.

We don't have experience with X-Keys, but I think it maybe hacking into the keyboard at some point after we've gotten the keyboard commands from the OS.

If you want to send control commands to Resolume, midi and OSC are by far the most reliable solutions.

HI, this is Dan from P.I. Engineering, maker of X-keys.

Tom, make sure you are using Hardware Mode when programming the X-keys. This will send the keystrokes in at the hardware level, effectively emulating a USB keyboard. If you have other commands on the panel which require script based programming (launching apps, opening directories, etc.), you can program some keys in Hardware Mode and others in Software Mode.

If you need help with any of this, feel free to contact us at tech (AT) xkeys (DOT) com.

Thanks.

Thanks Dan,

That was the information I needed. Software mode seems to work ok with most textual application. I will try the hardware mode.

This still doesn't answer the question, why the Resolume 4 Arena default keyboard commands don't work?
