Hi Guys,
I know I know...
there are hundreds of threads and a pdf that kind of talking about this.
It looks like for Resolume that the best set up for this project would be two computer with one datapath each and a SMTPE card to sync them.
It looks like there will be a lag... I'm trying to understand if this solution that should cost around CAD $13,000 worth not buying a system like Vioso Wings or WO Dataton but are scalable for the future.
Please share your opinion and comments.
Thank you in advance folks

Can you share more info like projector resolution and preferred canvas resolution?
If it's just 800p of 720p per projector I would personally go for one PC with a GPU who can handle 4x displayport (to 4x datapath) and 1 hdmi (preview) so 5 outputs total. It looks like you have to take an AMD GPU because as far as I an tell NVidia can only handle 4. Except PNY NVS 810 but I have no clue how well it performs.

Assuming a 20% blend (216 px) all around you'd need a 23856x1080 comp so considering the 16384 px limitation, I would build the 360˚artwork in two stacked bands of 180˚each. You'd end up with a 11928x2160 comp and I would use 1 @ 1080ti, 2 @ 7680x2106@30 DP outputs and 4 @ Datapath FX4 (2 main and 2 pass throughs) for the 14 projectors.

You assumed correctly and yes your numbers are the one I’ve calculated.
Why 2160? Because i will split in the input two long canvas one on top of each other. Did I understand?
Coming down to the machine I know SMTPE sync will have a lag but is this an alternative solution?
2 x pc 1080ti with 2x Datapath fx4 and one SMTPE SYNC hardware (which I’m not
I’ve got some pricing for WO v6, disguise D3 and Hippotizer Taiga, I was in betweeen laughing and crying ...lol.
Thank you Frederic.
Best,

Thank you, I have WUXGA projectors and I Frederic having helped me in the past assumed correctly.
I honk I’ll give a try to this solution.
Thank you again!

Hey Oaktown!
Question for you:
Setting up 4x Fx4 units, 2x display port to 2x Fx4, then looping out to an additional Fx4 on each unit.
Setting the 1080ti outputs via DP to 7680x2160@60
Do you have experience with frame rates for this setup? Do you know the pixel per second limit?
Thanks in advance!

Setting the 1080ti outputs via DP to 7680x2160@60
As I wrote in my previous post, you'll have to limit your refresh rate to 7680x2160@30 to do this. 7680x2160@30 is comparable to 4K@60 and works no problems. Then you can use the FX4 to get 4 @ 1080P60 outputs per unit.

Thanks for the info, I missed that. Setting @30 will max my composition out at 30fps, correct?

Yes.
I personally lock all my comps to 30 anyways so it’s never an issue for me.
