does anyone know if you can get a firwire output of a resolume mix? i want to get a decent recording of some of a mix and find the 'record' feature to give only jerky results. The other option Ive tried is recording the video out but again the loss of quality is too much. any ideas anyone? cheers

As far as I'm aware, there is no firewire out on resolume. Video out might be your best option after all!

My analogue video-out recordings (to DV cam) look absolutely fine (as good as the original quality anyway).

Correct me if I'm wrong but if you were using firewire out the video would have to be re-encoded to DV anyway?

Yes, DV means some sort of reformatting the video-data. But DV is close to uncompressed -as far as i know. So this operation should consume almost no cpu power.
This would be a very nice feature for Resolume, because recording the video output with a DV-cam does indeed lower the quality of the pictures, especially at the borders.
(Of cause, s-vhs will do better than composite.)

Personally i dont like using any video signal at all unless i have to. im used to using the vga-out for projectors. Ideally its this signal that i want to get a recording of. any thoughts?

well if you want to record VGA you will have to get a bit of hardware that can record VGA, such as the first google result http://www.epiphan.com/products/vgarecorder/index.php but that will cost you a fair bit... you would be better off with a DVD recorder and a SVideo cable... of if your video card has it, component.

cheers. the vga recorder sounds amazing, but the cost is gonna make it a no-go. in terms of SVideo, i've always found that as soon as you start using any type of video connection you lose that 'zing' that a straight vga to projector gives you. do you know what i mean?

another possibily - with much lower costs than those vga-recorders, but still quite expensive - is this baby, the world's only scan-converter with vga-input and dv output:

Hi guys, to record a master of a mix in resolume!!!
I have done it using an avermedia pc to tv converter. I used this thing to split the vga signal, sending one to the projector and one to a dvcam and recording in to a minidv tape. Here take a look http://www.aver.com/products/comptv_QuickPlay.shtml.
