Sorry to sound like a total noob but I searched the forms, help, and google to find this with no luck.

I’m looking for a simple color scroll effect. I have a simple text and I want it to change colors automatically. Some type of color fade effect where it can cycle different colors. I can color mask it, but I’m
looking for a color change that’s automatically changing during the show.

Thank you, I know it’s simple and sounds stupid but this is my last effort on trying to do this I can’t find it anywhere in the effects.

You mean a effekt like colorize or hue rotate.

Thank you Joris, I did look at that link before and still for some reason I can’t figure it out. I clicked the link and it says “click the little grey triangle next to the parameter name. A menu will appear.” But anything and everything I select in that menu is not working for me.

For example I’m using the colorize effect, and I want that affect to animate and scroll through the color palette on its own. Is maybe there a video link or something of someone doing this? I’m sorry, I know this seems very simple I should grasp it easy but I’m missing something here.

To be more specific this is just the clip I am trying to animate? Maybe I should try and do it on the layer? I feel like I’m missing something right in front of me

You drop the Effect on the Clip ( text) you want to colorize...

then you play around with the parameters inside the effect

when you find the slider you want to move on his own you are allmost there...

next to this parameter you click this little triangle and chose timeline...
now you can set speed & playmode of the parameter

What I think is throwing you off is that on the Colorize effect, by default the color is selected via a picker. And the picker doesn't have a triangle to animate it.

So you can switch it from picker to HSB mode. This reveals a parameter called Hue, which does have a triangle, and then you're only one step away from the rainbow.

Needed to be in HSB mode to find that triangle I was looking for. That second video you posted did the trick for me.
