Super newbie: hardware question.

Hi there... I want to use Resolume to do something very simple: To run 1-3 HD video sources (HEVC format) on my 2020 MacBook Air with the M1 chip and distribute them via an external I/O box to 2-3 projectors, depending upon the venue. All I need to do during performance is start and stop different video files (a different file per projector) at the beginning and end of each song (live performance).
Three questions:
1. Will my 2020 Air/M1 support this?
2. Which interface (I suppose Blackmagic) would allow me to do this via the USB/C port on the Air?
3. Can I use an external (fast) SSD connected to the second USB/C port for this or does all playback have to come from the internal SSD?
I'd like to consider the option of blending the projectors together but that would require screens that we probably won't have.
Thanks so much! I'm not a VJ, this is for immersive meditation experiences to be played in assisted living centers for senior citizens, all based on imagery captured around a small mountain just north of San Francisco. An example of what we're doing is here: https://vimeo.com/garyyost/ragadesh?share=copy
