i figured out that the framerate drops (normaly i use svideo out) if you see animated parameters in the resolume interface... if you collapse the effect or property panels (where the sliders are triggered to bpm or something) you get some frames more

got a macbook pro 2007 with 2gb ram and 128mb geforce 8600

Yup. Updating the GUI can be quite processor intensive, depending on where they are in the screen. We are working on some optimizations for this, but you can definitely squeeze out a few extra FPS by not having those panels open.

maybe a simply workaround woult be deactivating the animated bars (optional)....
sometimes they are deactivating theirselves when audio triggered :p (especially by loading a saved composition)

any other performance tips (for my macbook?)
do i get better performance with a faster system harddisc (videos played from external)
or is it just the 8600gt with it's low 128mb memory? (normaly working on 640x480, PAL is sadly a bit too slow)
also it would be nice to get better performance with blend modes/global effects... or at least a bit more blend modes without global effects to get better performance.

Sadly, I have yet to see any Mac laptop run Resolume as smoothly as the custom PC I built for $700. Yes, I have to carry around the CPU and LCD, but I have many advantages (i.e. can upgrade CPU, can use SSD for VJ drive, can upgrade video card, etc.). I'd say the biggest bottleneck may actually be the HD speed. Make sure you go for 7200RPM at least. SSD could be connected via USB or another port using an external enclosure, but the actual port will likely be slower than the SSD. So having your media on an internal SSD is the only real choice unless you have USB 3.0 or eSATA III connections to use with the appropriate SSD and external enclosure.

as i sayd... i got an external 3,5" 1TB 7200rpm drive with esata/fw800
it doesn't matter if i play clips in hd or in sd....
the main problem is that resolume has troubles playing multiple longer clips smoothly, was also the case in resolume2, maybe a caching problem?
and an ssd for my clips? that's too expensive... for all my footage i need 500gb+
so does my performance will get better with an internal ssd (so the system drive would be faster than the external if something is getting cached or something). My 2GB of ram also should be enough if i only run resolume and max runtime... or does resolume use more ram under osx?

@psychologist.... i also got a suitcase case with lcd monitor for higher resolutions, but i bought an old macbook pro cause it's better to carry for small gigs and quartz runs on it
