Live Feeds

Hi everyone,

I'm a complete newbie to Resolume here and have just purchased Resolume 3 on the mac and am awaiting Arena 4 eagerly.

I have a tiny wireless camera I wanted to incorporate into my set up but its only output is phono - so I purchased a easycap usb which works great with easycap viewer but Resolume won't read this at all as a device. I also tried connecting cameras via firewire and still Resolume won't recognize these cameras as a device.

The only thing I have got to work is connecting my flip camera which read it as a device but obviously only read the data on the camera and I couldn't actually use it as a live feed.

Anyone had any experience with using livefeeds with Resolume and got any pointers on what I'm doing wrong or what equipment I should be using?

Thanks!

Hey Em

Welcome to Resolume and our forum!

For reliable and high quality live capture we recommend BlackMagic devices. If you start getting into budget devices like the easycap stuff, it becomes a lot more hit and miss, but maybe other users have good tips for you!

Thanks Joris,

Think this is way out of budget for me at the moment - but something to aspire to! Any recommendations on which BlackMagic devices work well for getting a basic reliable live feed?

thanks for your help, really appreciated.

if the blackmagic is too expensive, maybe you should also think about a pc instead of a mac ;)

I'm able to get only one live camera input to work at a time within Resolume 4. This includes the built-in iSight camera. While all my plugged in devices are recognized by Resolume under Source->Quicktime as soon as I drag one onto a clip the camera becomes active and I am unable to access any of the others.

Anyone know a way around this? I'm producing a show next month in which I'd love to have multiple live camera inputs running into Resolume. Maybe I have to find real cameras and a switcher

Are you using more than one live camera with Resolume?

I've not made the transition to R4 yet, but to answer your Q, yes, I have had multiple live inputs into Resolume 3, it works well...
