I am having stuttering issues playing one layer in resolute 4 beta. I have over 15000 clips and use almost all of them during a weekend. I needed a video that was compressed very small so I can have all of them with me. I am not upset or in need of an immediate fix, just let the software team know. I use avi HD. I do a lot of weddings and use 720p nature shots. i get my video from blu-rays. I use Aunsoft Blu-ray ripper and convert to Apple ProRes 422 (HQ). Then I bring it into Final Cut Pro 2 to clip the video. After I have clipped, I use Aunsoft Video Converter to convert in AVI HD.

Two more things. I use perian and have the latest version. The second is that the videos run VERY smooth in VLC player and Quicktime player 10.1

If you use Quicktime with DXV, PJpeg or Apple Intermediate, does the video also stutter?

Start by getting rid of AVI.

Just encode to DXV MOVs.

doing a test tonight. I think it is an audio problem that I should not have. I clipped video without audio, yet when i converted to AVI, a audio track was added. the added audio track has no audio, just the track.

I converted a different way and will test tonight and get back to you.

I hope it works for you, but you gotta know, by using AVI you are not taking advantage of some of what makes Resolume so awesome... the special DXV codec support.

goto10 - I have been trying to narrow do the problem. The file will play smooth in quicktime and vlc player. when I drop it into Resolume 4, i get stutter. I will do more testing but have one question. what is the native frame rate that Resolume uses? my video is 30fps and if Resolume plays the video at 24fps then that would explain the stutter.

Resolume does not have a native framerate. It tries to refresh at the highest framerate possible, and if the clips framerate is lower than that value, it should not stutter. Check your fps to see if it's higher than 30, I wouldn't be surprised if it's not with the codec you're using.

goto10 - sent you an email with a link to down load a file. give it a test and see if you get the same issue. ALL my HD clips like these are in the same file format. this 15,000+ files.
