It has no s-video or composite out so you can not connect it to a video mixer that has only s-video or composite.

You can get a DVI to s-video/composit adaptor.
Take I look at the Apple online store
I have a mac book and I use one of those to connect to a Edirol V4 with no problems what so ever.
And they are not expensive.
Pipoca.

Yes this works on the old MacBook but the new one does not have a DVI connection but a MINI-DisplayPort.
All this info is on the Apple website:

The old Macbook Pro's are still on sale (at least in Belgium) and they are significantly cheaper than they used to be. Don't forget that these are still very powerfull machines. Also since the 17" hasn't been renewed, but has been upgraded to standard 4gigs ram, you might check out if they updated the video connections as well or if they stayed the same as with the old models.

Try deleting the files in this directory:
~/Documents/Resolume Avenue 3/preferences/
