Resolume 6.1.0 Sync to the DJ

The 6.1.0 release is a major point release, which means we added a big feature. As we announced a few weeks ago, we made it a lot easier to sync a prepared video set to the audio coming from the DJ.

If you work with a DJ that mixes on a Denon setup, you can sync every video in Resolume to every track on the players. You can read all about that in the manual. Suffice to say, this will make banging out those DJ intros and special show moments a piece of cake.

We also have a handful of bug fixes. If you're using multiply a lot, make sure you peek the warning below! Otherwise, just hit that download.

Multiply Mixer Warning
We fixed the jump cut when ejecting a clip from a multiply layer using a transition. The multiply blend now works the same as in Photoshop. So far so good! This also means that when using the multiply blend in combination with content that has transparency, the visual result will be slightly different, also in existing compositions. If you prefer the old look, you can disable the alpha channel in the content.

Hotfix! September 20th.
The Opacity fader of a layer was not working correctly when it was playing a SMPTE synced clip. Fixed in Arena 6.1.0 rev61231. Simply download Arena 6.1 again to get this latest revision.

Fixed
#11629 (closed) Make multiply mixer transparency aware
#11598 (closed) DMA Textures crashes with HAP q alpha
#11405 (closed) Crash loading certain TIFF files
#11609 (closed) Hue rotate after Iterate or Fragment not processing pre multiplied colors correctly
#11574 (closed) Fix Rings generator not outputting correctly premultiplied colors
#11573 (closed) Fix LineScape generator not outputting correctly premultiplied colors
#11571 (closed) Fix Lines generator not outputting correctly premultiplied colors
#11569 (closed) Fix checkered generator not outputting correctly premultiplied colors

Last time I've saw denon hardware on a stage was almost twenty years ago.
Is that a common thing in europe? Is usual hardware there, or a great reso.bonus?
Love the fixes.
I still recommend a simple multiply filter to get rid off all that situations we know.

Posting because i wanna hear the answer to this.

Comment from Oaktown:

A lot of the information regarding the new multiply blend mode is in this thread.

Comment from francoe:

Thanks for the info Oaktown. I know this is about blending. Is just everytime I see that word miss the ability of multiply straight alpha (when you crop, mask,key.. even after transform). You know, the simple thing :D

Comment from Mc128k:

Great to see some integration, although 90% of the sets here (italy) are Pioneer CDJ. It would have been nice to have at least the bpm input from them via network, but anyway hopefully we will get there.

Thanks!

As i stumbled around here but didnt every read here about this :

https://www.tc-supply.com/

I just drop this here.

Its software to Connect to Pioneer DJ Hardware.

I never tested it but i can imagine that its somehow possible to get the bpm somehow into resolume ;)

They recently have added a midi, but also creates Ableton link for resolume.

100 USD a month or 2k outright.

Mac only tho.

Comment from Greenfielt:

I've tried this yesterday in a live setting.

3 CDJ's + 1 DJM (nexus versions).
https://github.com/Deep-Symmetry/beat-link-trigger

On a macbook which was linked in the same network as the CDJ's.
There are some glitches, but the most works without any problem.

It's open source, maybe you guys at resolume can use his knowledge? :)

Question about the Denon support. Do you actually need the X1800 mixer with the SC5000 player or can you just hook up a SC5000 or SC5000M player without needing the X1800 mixer?

Also the SC5000 & SC5000M are dual-layer DJ deck players. If you play two different songs on a single player using the dual layer functionality, will Resolume will sync 2 separate videos to their respective deck simultaneously off of one player?

Comment from Joris:

You need the mixer. It's the hub that collects all the data coming from the players and then sends it to Resolume.

Resolume does work with dual layer mode and will treat A and B as separate players. Which gets hilarious if you put 4 players in dual layer mode and the toolbar fills up with 8 players.

Comment from Joris:

Turns out I'm an idiot, and you can totally use a SC5000 player without a mixer to sync videos in Resolume. You can even use two players. Just connect the Resolume computer and both players via a router, and both players will pop up.

Of course you won't be able to get the fader info to use the fader automation, but you can disable that in the clip panel.

Sorry for spreading misinformation and crushing dreams.

Many topics, little bit here and there, straight forward question;
Is there a way to connect a Pioneer DDJ-SXII to resolume 6 last update?
Two weeks ago I wasn’t even able to pull out the video feed (Serato video) which I use to it easily in 2015.
Anyone is able to help?
