you can get free hd footage from youtube (by searching for hd on advance settings) using orbit downloader or just google a better solution if that doesnt work for you, cuz orbit downloader is a bit unreliable

Similarly vid editing softs are aimed at producing finished movies, rather than just chopping video into clips and look to be a fair bit more involved than I'm after.

get premiere, sony vegas or fianl cut and u can import anything u like and improve whatever it is and export it to whatever format ...
