Re: Arena 6 and multithreading

Yeah 'threads' and 'cores' are a different thing, it's confusing because they aren't always used to describe the same thing and can be interchanged with eachother. In the end we're never really interrested in how many physical cores a cpu has. What we care about is how many threads a cpu can execute...

Re: Arena 6 and multithreading

Below is what i've advised during the beta in response to a question whether a single-core setup or a multi-core setup should be preferred. What it comes down to is that we'll parallellize work wherever possible, but sadly it's not always possible. Will we be utilizing multiple cores? yes. For each ...

Re: High Quality mode - is HDR output possible? | v6 Beta

Nope we're not doing any HDR whatsoever. The high quality mode only affects the precision of the calculations we're doing on the video. And yes, actual outputs (virtual devices aren't outputs) get converted to the lower precision 8bpc format. The precision affects pretty much everything, but gets mo...

Re: Resolume 6

Just note that on osx the plugins will still be running in a legacy context. And on windows you will be running with a 3.2 compatibility profile.

Re: Software Overhead or Hardware Overhead?

Unexpected low harddisk rates are usually caused by the os' File Caching mechanism. The OS detects which files are often used and puts them into free ram. You probably have lots of free ram with that 32GB, if you aren't running memory intensive applications next to resolume. You'll see disk io go up...

Re: Freeframe Layer Viewport Bug

Hey Alex,

i remember this issue passing by. I'm sad to have to tell you that we will not be fixing this in version five :(

Did we already discuss what you can do to handle our issue in your plugin? Wouldn't a simple GetViewport be enough?

Re: Artnet and osc

Lets start with the solution before i answer the original questions. In 5.1 we will be supporting unicast. We're currently in the closed beta phase. If you need it really soon you can send us a mail and maybe joris can hook you up with beta access. Now for the original questions: ... So question is,...

Re: Pixel mapping RGBW fixtures - intensity....

Our implementation is actually a bit simpler than in that paper, and i can see one problem that may cause exactly the problem you're having. In my test i have a solid white color in a layer where i fade that layer to black using an alpha blend. When the layer outputs full white the w channel is used...

The composition beat snap setting doesn't seem to be loaded from xml, so i'm afraid not.

Re: additional DMX-Channels in Fixture-Editor...

When we decide to add uv to the color spaces, how do you expect us to drive this channel with video? For white and amber this is fairly simple as these are colors that can be represented by a certain combination of the Red Green Blue values we have in video. UV is blue'er (is that a word?) than the ...
