Re: Help with Mac mini and resolume arena 4.1

The 500GB hard drive on the current Mac Minis is 5400rpm which will definitely reduce your performance.

The 256MB graphics card on the Mac Mini isn't great either, especially if you are comparing it to the 1GB card on the Retinas...

If you're not using many layers or HD content, it might be okay?

Re: DMX fixture for more than 3 layers

Generally the subnet for any Artnet application is 255.0.0.0, and the subnet and port numbers correspond to the Artnet Universe you're using. You may find this useful: http://www.chamsys.be/download/manuals/dmxethernetandartnet.pdf Now that I think of it, it's possible that Resolume isn't configured...

Re: DMX fixture for more than 3 layers

Resolume and Chamsys have been playing together well for us - and unless there's something I'm not seeing about your setup, the patch in Chamsys should be pretty straightforward. Once you've patched your Arena 'composition' fixture profile and selected your 'layer' profile, patch Arena layers until ...

Re: kinect hacks to use in resolume

I've been messing about with Kinectar, sending MIDI triggers to Resolume - the only problem I'm finding is that once an attribute is mapped, it's tied in; in other words, if you map the layer opacity fader to your hand, you better be ready to keep your hands in the air for a while! ;) I'm sure there...

Re: Macbook video out question.

Matrox Triplehead2Go is the most common method for sending multiple video outs from a Macbook.

Should run you ~$300 new, bit less used, and it's pretty simple to configure and get rolling.

Re: Arena cutting off pixels of a DXV .mov file?

Got it in one!

Made the change to square pixels and the problem appears 100% solved. Thank you sir!

Now, if anyone could educate me on why square pixels affect the output in Resolume but not in Quicktime Player, I'd be most grateful for the lesson!

Re: Arena cutting off pixels of a DXV .mov file?

Hi Joris, It looks like it's cropping the Quicktime file - see three screenshots attached. In the two Resolume screenshots, you can see that the file is showing up at proper resolution in Finder and in the Quicktime video player, but when I load it into Resolume, it's cutting 9% of the pixels off th...

Re: Arena cutting off pixels of a DXV .mov file?

So I left this problem on the back burner for a while, but a bit of extra testing shows the same problem consistently. Any content I create myself in AfterEffects shows up in Finder, VLC or Quicktime at proper resolution, but loads in Resolume at full height and 91% width (that is, an 800x600 clip l...

Re: Post your mapping videos

Not sure if this fits with the rest of the thread, but we've been having some fun lately with mapped/masked projections in Arena driven by cues from a Chamsys MQ100 lighting console over Artnet, with an eye to integrating mapped projection into a rock tour later in the year. This one's just a quick ...

Re: help figuring out a 360 mapping system?

Stickygreen and goto10 both hit this on the head, this is a truly enormous learning gap to cover for your very first mapping / VJing project. If you absolutely don't have the funding to hire someone, then hopefully you can at least set up a whole bunch of shop testing time? A day or three of advance...
