On windows when you double click a composition file it opens the clicked composition.

Is there currently a way to launch Resolume 4.2.1 with an empty composition? - the same result as clicking new composition? By default it reloads the last opened composition. This can be inconvenient if you actually want a new empty composition. It would be cool if there were command line parameters...

Make sure you are playing a clip in timeline mode not bpm sync. See transport and speed controls in the manual.

The closest thing I can think of is putting a source on its own layer then making a slice that only uses that layer as input.

You could try turning vsync off in your graphics driver control panel. Im a windows user so I dont know how that would be done on OSX.
