Just to clarify, the DMX protocol is not designed to exchange thumbnail information. Different servers use different protocols to do this, MagicQ supports different protocols that will do this including Media Server Exchange (MSEX) and they list the media servers that it integrates with (all the major ones, Hippo, Arkaos, Pandoras Box, Catalyst, ......)
It would be advantageous if Resolume started supporting thumbnail exchanges, as the market for media control from a lighting console is not insignificant and the MagicQ has quite a following among upcoming live lighting/media people. Also, many other professional level lighting consoles also support these protocols.
There is a way that it may be possible to hack thumbnails using the Generic media setting on the MagicQ, although by the looks of this it simply attaches thumbnail images to specific and isn't really a live thumbnail or give you genuine preview.
