Synced Triple 4K output (4096x2160)

Post by tyleredwards »

Hey all,
I'm working on a project with a fairly large LED wall. I'm looking to build a server that supply a minimum of (2) 4K outputs (4096x2160) and (1) 1920x1080 plus a control monitor. I've read quite a bit about the GTX 1080 but can't seem to find the definitive answer on it's capability to serve up this pixel count. I haven't jumped down the rabbit hole of motherboard, SSD, ram, etc.. yet as I want to nail down the graphics side. I also need these outputs to be in sync as the LED will be stitched together. Can this be done?

A couple of other thoughts for cards is the NVS810 or the Matrox C680.

I'm running X99 mobo with GTX1080s and we've pushed, at max, 3x 4K at 3840x2160 and a control display of 1920x1080. The system handles fine, but Resolume seems to drop quite a few frames on large files. If you're playing back high resolution files, performance seemed to fluctuate a good bit.

Meptik, are you also using an M.2 SSD to run your OS (and preferably a second M.2, or at least a PCIe SSD, for content)?

If so, and fps still drops below 30, tylerdwards may want to move up to a 12GB Titan X. I have run textures at 8960x1080 with a Titan X + M.2 SSD + X99 Mobo, and reached 16 layers before going under 30fps.

Use one 1080ti, the performance will be better then 2. Handles triple 4k with a monitor fine. Depending on how you program resolume. Find a card with 3 display ports and one dvi/hdmi. Obviously 15 4k files isn't going to happen.
