How to create a keyboard shortcut to fade to black in Avenue

Post by Gigasaurus »

I am using Avenue. I would like to create a keyboard shortcut that will fade whatever is playing right now to black. Is that possible?

If this is not possible .... I only use one column at a time. Is there a way to set a keyboard shortcut to "fade this column to black"?

My goal is to fade to black with the press of a keyboard shortcut. Rather than having to manually move a slider.

PS> I posted this question a few days ago. when I logged into the forum today it said I have created no posts. So I'm posting the question again.

There would be several different ways of doing this, depending if you just want to temporary blackout the playing content or that you want to blackout so all your clips are gone, and you can then launch other clips.

1 - One way could be to map the X (clear all layers), under the word composition, to a key and than set the transition time for all layers to X seconds. Then the layers will be cleared, and your output will go to black every time you hit your shortcut after that you can click a clip or column to get a output again.

2 - An other way would be to have a layer on top of your composition and drop in a solid color source set to black on clipslot 1 and a blank clip source on clipslot 2. Then you will set the transition time of the layer to X seconds and map the to clips to a keyboard shortcut. Make sure you're layer opacity is set to 100% percent. By pushing the two shortcuts you just made you can't make the output go to black and back..
