Lag & low FPS?

Post by hyz »

Hi,

I'm experiencing lag and low fps whenever I add multiple layers in Resolume Avenue.
The fps sometimes drops to 3(!).

There are some topics out there that discuss this problem, but I have never seen any solution.

I am running Avenue on an 10.6.8 iMac. The iMac itself shouldn't be the problem since I can render clips realtime in other software as After Effects, Premiere etc.

Thank you.

Which codec are you using for your video files?

Thanks for responding.

Usually H264, which makes my animations and clips like around 5 mb. I also have this problem with the presets/example template included in Avenue.

The fps drops whenever I add multiple layers and reverse a layer.

Low fps on reverse playback is almost guaranteed to be caused by using H264.

This is exactly why every VJ software worth its salt recommends against using H264. Resolume works best with DXV encoded files. Aside from low fps, stability is also greatly improved.

If you are 100% sure you also have this problem with using only DXV files, please contact us directly with your logfile.

Solution for me was to convert all of my MOV files into DXV coded MOV files using the software Resolume Alley. Download available directly on https://resolume.com/download/
