I've been having a very hard time setting up two (or even one) midi controllers with Resolume.
my setup:
- ASUS F75VC with Core i3 processor, GeForce GT 720M GPU and 8GB RAM.
- Akai APC20
- Faderfox LD2
I might be doing something very obviously wrong, since I'm very new to Resolume, but all I do is connect both Midi controllers, set the in/out preferences and start mapping a few functions to buttons before parts of the interface start flickering and the software becomes unresponsive.
This happens sometimes when I'm just using one controller as well, and it happens after I stop the Application MIDI Map and start mixing.
All my clips are converted to DXV by the way.
Help would be very appreciated!
Avenue 4 crash/glitch whenever used with midi controllers
Re: Avenue 4 crash/glitch whenever used with midi controller
The 720 is a super low end video card. I didn't even know it exsisted. Maybe the overlay for midi mapping makes a certain OpenGL call that isn't supported.
What happens when you try to OSC or Key map? Is it the same or just midi? Do you notice the values jumping to other numbers when trying to map?

Re: Avenue 4 crash/glitch whenever used with midi controller
thanks for the reply drazkers. So I tried Key mapping, and alone it seems to work fine. But as soon as I add one midi controller, things get a bit crazy. It's somewhat ok with the APC20, but when launching clips it triggers some unwanted clips sometimes as well. With the Faderfox Resolume crashes almost instantly. The 720 is a super low end video card. I know the video card is very low end, but it should be able to handle at least one midi controller, right?
Re: Avenue 4 crash/glitch whenever used with midi controller
Hey Paddy, are you sure you don't have some conflicting information in your Midi maps?
There are 3 different ways to program Midi (Application:Layer, Application:Deck and Composition) so a midi note or CC could be assigned to more than one function creating erratic-like behavior! My understanding is that when you're using two controllers, a 1/D-4 note in one controller is the same as a 1/D-4 in the other since Resolume listens to all the MIDI inputs at once and a note or CC triggers the same function(s) regardless of which controller it's coming from.
So why don't you 1) save your currend Midi map in teh Midi preference, 2) clear both your application and composition Midi maps by selecting the option [Remove All] and 3) start fresh. When programming the two controllers, make sure you don't have the same notes or CC's controlling different functions and you should be good to go.

Re: Avenue 4 crash/glitch whenever used with midi controller
hi Oaktown, thanks for the suggestion!
I cleared all Midi maps, and tried mapping functions using the Composition (because I hadn't tried this before). This worked a little longer than when I use Application:Deck or Layer. I was able to play with some functions, but after a few seconds different things started flickering and after almost a minute the whole program crashed again.
Since then I've tried running Resolume on compatibility mode for windows XP and 7, just in case, and although it seems to run a little longer, it crashes within minutes.

Re: Avenue 4 crash/glitch whenever used with midi controller
Which operating system are you running on your computer? Also which version of arena are you using?
I'm not sure why you're running arena in compatibility mode so you might want to uninstall Arena and reinstall version 4.1.11 which is the most recent version.

Re: Avenue 4 crash/glitch whenever used with midi controller
I'm running the latest version of Avenue, on Windows 8. I've already tried reinstalling it, with no luck.
There wasn't any particular reason to use it in compatibility mode, I just read that in another thread here on Resolume, and since I'm out of other options I gave it a try.

I think it might be time you contacted us directly with your logfiles.

Paddy, not sure what thread is recommending to run in compatibility mode but both version of Resolume should run great on Windows 8 or 8.1.

thanks for the help drazkers and Oaktown, I think I'll do what Joris suggested and send the Support team my logfiles.
