R4 has suddenly begun crashing frequently - debugging ideas?

Post by craftycurate »

After using R4 live for countless hours I have found R4 crashing frequently in the last couple of days of live use, with a set that was working fine previously. It uses 1080HD DXV clips and Flash anims. The problem also occurred in a test set with just two DXV clips in.

I'm thinking it's something to do with my system, but given that the log file gives no clue, and the error message "Avenue has stopped working etc." doesn't help much either.

If anyone has any experienced similar problems, or has thoughts about why this might be happening, or additional debugging steps I can take, please do share.

Windows 7 Pro x64, NVidia 650M 2GB, 8GB RAM etc.

Any help appreciated!

Cheers
Richard

As a start...

Look in the Windows Application event log to find the module that Resolume crashed in.

Right click on "My Computer", choose "Manage" then find the Event Viewer.

Brilliant thanks ... I think this may have provided the vital clue. I installed MIDIHub driver just prior to this as part of another installation, and the Application Event Viewer indicates the following:

Faulting application name: Avenue.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x5587c800
Faulting module name: mnet32.drv, version: 0.8.5.0, time stamp: 0x55ab635e
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x00013258
Faulting process id: 0x1c88
Faulting application start time: 0x01d0dbff96e6a51c
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Resolume Avenue 4.2.1\Avenue.exe
Faulting module path: C:\PROGRA~2\humatic\MIDIHub\mnet\mnet32.drv
Report Id: a7c7144c-47f5-11e5-a8e1-685d43f8420a

Will try uninstalling this and see if the crashes stop.
