Have to reselect display anytime input is changed

Post by NoFilterBand »

Hello all, been using Resolume for a few months now for a cover band with a synchronized video show. It works great for the most part, but we've run into an issue when performing at a venue that has their own large video wall display.

The issue is that the DJ also uses this video display, which in itself isn't that big an issue, but rather than whenever we use their HDMI selector to move from our laptop to the DJ's for video output, Resolume drops the monitor selection on our end and we have to go back over to our machine and reselect the second monitor output to bring ours back up when the DJ's set is over. It's a relatively minor annoyance but it eats up time and sometimes makes us late to start.

Is there a way to create some sort of loopback or monitor emulation that keeps Resolume from deselecting the active display when the input source is changed on the device its outputting to? This also happens even if the input source is changed on a device like an HDTV. The preferred behavior would be for it to just keep outputting until its told not to anymore.

Thanks!

Use DVI Detective or HDMI Detective from Gefen. You can set the resolution on the box, hook up PC to this and keep the output.

They are relatively cheap, 50-100 USD, depending on where you buy from.

I agree it would be great to have this option in Resolume, but it's not just hard, it's impossible.

Outputting to what? You just told the switcher to switch inputs, so as far as your computer is concerned, there is no output anymore. We can't output to something that doesn't exist.

Really, the only way to have this functionality is to use an EDID spoofer like dirtyjohn_lv suggests, or to use a seamless mixer ( instead of a switcher ) that keeps all inputs active regardless of which one is live.
