I just got a new MacBook Pro. Now I have to re-figure out all my live input connections again. Ideally Im sending HDMI out from my PC to Resolume on my MacBook Pro which acts as more of a video mixer.
It doesn’t seem like there are any reasonably priced HDMI to Thunderbolt3/USB-C inputs so not sure even if there is a new option to buy.
I was hoping I could get my my
MAGEWELL USB CAPTURE HDMI (https://www.amazon.com/Magewell-HDMI-Vi ... BKOLL3J3K6)
to connect to either my
Apple brand USB-C to HDMI + USB 3.1 (https://www.amazon.com/Apple-USB-C-Digi ... PDKIKX0DER)
or to my
HOMUSPOT USB-C hub (https://www.amazon.com/Macbook-Thunderb ... B076BKF1SM) .
Resolume sees something available on the chain called USB Capture HDMI, but says No Signal when I try to use it.
As a side test, VLC Video Capture can see the MAGEWELL as an option, but no signal comes through also.
Has anyone used this combo of MAGEWELL USB Capture to either of those connectors on the MacBook Pro? Alternatively, does anyone have any working solutions for getting signal into a new MacBook Pro?

Sound like a case for Magewell support.
If it doesn't work in other programs either, there is not much we can do about it.

I've used a thunderbolt2 to thunderbolt3 adapter to get a blackmagic ultrastudio mini recorder to work on a new macbook pro..

Further experimentation has revealed that there is something about my HDMI source that doesn't translate into the Magewell. I previously was going out from a PC's HDMI port.
I found if I switch to a different source, an HDMI out from a desktop mac, and that signal will connect fine to the Magewell on the Macbook Pro.
Im starting to wonder if this is actually a Digital Rights Management issue from the PC's HDMI port.
If I got out from a different way from the PC everything works fine.
PC out the MiniDisplay Port > MiniDisplay Port to HDMI dongle > MAGEWELL works fine.
thanks everyone for responding.

I use a Thunderbolt 2 <-> Thunderbolt 3.
Its a expensive adapter but that way I can use my Firewire Adapter in anouther things (soundcard).
USB-C its strange for me in this aplications:
- Few adapters types.
- very easy to disconnect.
