another audio analysis query

Post by Anonymous »

Hi folks, I´ve just been reading the previous post about audio analysis which were very helpfull. What I can´t figure out is why the audio bars keep on moving even after I cut every audio input. Got my mic in mute so there shouldn´t be any sound source making the bars move. That makes me wonder whether the bars move acordingly to the music when is enabled.
Can anyone give me a hint bout this?
Thanks very much in advance. Love & Peace 2 y´all

hi,

are the bars moving or just staying at somewhat the same value?
because if they sort of stay on the same value check the ground of your motherboard.
i had it with one of my shuttles and when the power source of that shutle broke down and i got a new one the noise wasnt there anymore....

Ffrom where came your audio source ?

Some times the monition in some clubs have a constant "noise" because the gain they have for the DJ's (i have experience that this weekend with jiggy and jesus del campo)

this also can happend because:
- a bad "gound connection"
- you system may have electrical "bugs" (bad fans for exemple)
- or a pour audio system

There are many reasons for noise, and it's most of the times impossible to squelch all noise. Because even if you use DI-boxes, if you use electronics to stabilize the ground level of the power supply, there will be still some insolation (at parties with strong PAs...) producing noise.

That's why i would like to have a fader inside resolume for setting a ground-level threshold.

MFO: that may be a solution....but the best way is to have something to cut some frequencys don't you think ?

on a noise gate...... so idealy you would have a proper stereo audio mixer before going into your computer... though i guess if the noise is from your soundcard you would have to have this as software.

@Danger: But you have noise on all frequency ranges?! At least those of resolume. To cut out specific, small frequency ranges you will need a fine fft and this requieres much cpu-power.

@Levon: A stereo audio mixer is surely a good thing to reduce noise. But i want to carry as little package as possible - thats why i use a laptop. So i would prefer a software solution.

Thanks to you all for your answers.
SuperficiaL: The music comes from winamp which is played as well from my laptop. When I hit the pause button the bars continue to move like if they were following the previous beats, though the general level of the bars decreases a little bit. Sorry if I don´t express myself with the proper terms, but is like there was still music playing somewhere as for the way the bars move.
The problem I belive could be related with the grounding thing and with my laptop spects. I´ve got a dell inspiron 2650. I´m not a very techy person myself but I reckon that although this pc has a decent processor and ram memory, in terms of audio and video is quite limited. Like that setting a resolution greater than 400 x 300 px on the second screen, the whole thing would crash.
from my lab (my rented room in barcelona) where my gigs take place, greetings to yáll
