Input or Slice Shapes with "holes" (letters A,B,O,P similar)

Post by OdyPody »

Hey there folks!

Im Projecting on a big fat Letter in Shape of a B.

so as it was easy to Outline the shape how can i cut out the inner areas as non projecting areas either in Input Mask or Output Slices?

Or i need to create only inner area output slices an map them over the outline shape and then make it black or 0 transparency?

or can i import a vector file and then just adjust the outlines to the real world object?

Thanks for info!

cheers!

I would make some masks of the letter, just as a PNG and put them on your top layer (or the top of your b letter group). And set the top layer as mask all layer underneath.

or you could use a polygon mask instead of a slice to cut out the outline and then use two polygon masks on top of it to match at the inner parts and make sure that the masks are not on invert and on top of the polygon. See pict...

hope that helps you out...

2. Seems the "faster" way for me now.

1. i need to try if i understood correct. the png as to be in the top layer of my clip layers or i can import it as a mask into the mapping?

Well, actually, there are multiple ways of doing this, but what I meant is putting the PNG on the top layer. "right - Click" on that layers name and pick "mask all below" (if a layer is in Mask mode, it will get this tiny triangle next to the layer name, see pict) or you could even put a mask fx on the composition and load you mask in there....
