Hello everyone,
I’m encountering a frustrating issue with Resolume Arena 7.21.3 on my new MacBook Pro with the M4 Pro chip. Over the weekend, during a live concert show, the program crashed multiple times, and I didn’t receive any crash reports.
The crashes seem to happen every time I select specific decks (one deck per song), particularly when dealing with larger files. In the empty fields of the deck, the white loading bar appears but never disappears, and the program freezes.
The video files I'm using are a mix of formats, including DXV3, MP4, AVI, etc. I’ve tried rendering everything to DXV3 with Alley, but even with DXV3 footage (Footage from the Resolume shop), one of the decks still froze.
Has anyone experienced something similar or can suggest potential solutions? I’m not sure if the issue is related to file formats, the Seqouia MacOS, or something else entirely. Any tips or advice on how to avoid crashes would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance for your help!
Regards René from Germany

Are you using capture inputs in your decks?

Yes, I use a BM Atem SDI ISO Pro via USB-C as a webcam input. This streams four live cameras to the LED wall.

There is an issue that we are investigating that happens on some Mac machines when switching to decks that contain capture devices, so you are probably experiencing that issue.
Would it be possible for your project to gather all files in one deck? Might not be a perfect solution but could prevent the crashes until we can implement a fix for that.
Furthermore I would recommend using all your footage converted to DXV instead of mixed codecs as you were describing.

If you can make a copy of the camera clip somewhere in the deck, where you have no clips in other decks either, and set it to Persistent, then the camera source won't get re-initialized every time on deck switching. Could help if that's the source of the freeze.

Hi Friends !
This bug (changing decks with capture devices, freezes apple silicon machines) is resolved with the release of Arena 7.22.0 ?
I have 3 big gigs next weekend and I will use my video capture device with lots and lots of decks on my M1Max.
Fear my friends, fear.
