The black thumbnail loaded might just be the one Resolume created when it couldn't load the frame.
You can either clear the thumbnail cache folder in C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Resolume Avenue\
or select the DXV clip, and hit Control+ shift +T to update the thumbnail that's stored in your composition.
