We've ordered a new MBP to test this.

Joris, I appreciate this.
I have been trying various screen layouts/outputs with the R9 MBP over the last 7 days at this current show with the same result. I even attempted a complete system restore.
I copied my composition files and file directory to the new MBP so that it is identical to the master with the same result in FPS drop. Both machines are going in to the same switcher(AnalogWay Ascender32) with all 3 outputs 1080@50z. All blending is done with the switcher.
I am out of ideas.

Arena is running flawless on the GT 650m MBP!

Update: Disabling Vsync on the macbook Pro with the R9 graphics - gives me slightly higher frame rates, but you all know what that does.
When Vsync enabled: it locks back down to 30fps.
I have this same exact result on my custom tower running Win10pro, with the AMD HD7970.

Joris, have you received your MBP?
I am currently traveling to Bangkok for my next show, I would love any insight to try and use my new machine for this show, as my composition will be very wide.

Thanks in advance!

We ran some tests, and indeed it's not performing as it should.

Combined with your report on the Radeon7970, and this report on the GTX770, I'm thinking there might be something fishy going on in vsync land.

That would suck, because that's a nasty can of worms you do not want to get stuck in.

Could you please drop us a mail, because we'll need your help testing this further.

    Any news on this?
I need to get some price estimates for a new mobile installation, and it would be good to know if this issue is solvable.
anyone tried with Yosemite, or bootcamped windows?

btw, the new nvidia drivers for the GT 650m on windows (bootcamp) suck so much, 1 layer output to 1080p and fps is fluctuating between 40 and 6 fps, playback hangs for 0,5 seconds.
same bad performance on my dell with the new radeon drivers.
