Multiple camera setup!

Post by albertas »

Hello!

I'm trying to make multi camera setup. I've read a lot of posts, cameras specs and other stuff. But till now I cannot figure out the best possible setup.

What I want to do is to setup at least 4 cameras, to output their images on the projector (through PC - Windows).
I need both full sized image and 4x4 split screen and 2x2 split screen (two images side by side).
I need the smallest delay possible, because it is a live music setup, so I want the images to correspond my instrumental play. Also the cameras cannot be too big because it has to be quite portable. I DON'T need to pass the audio through camera!

The hardest thing is to find info about cameras output delay and if they even have the possibility to output live stream. The rest of the chain is not that hard.

For example: if I would use some Multiviewer with 4xHDMI inputs [2 frame delay] -> Multiviewer output to BlackMagic Mini Recorder [2 frame delay] -> Thunderbolt connection to a PC -> PC to projector = this gives me something about 4 frame delay. This is the maximum latency I can accept.

So now I only need to find camcorders that will be outputting nice stream (through HDMI or SDI assuming that the Multiviewer would have SDI inputs), with lowest latency possible. Are there even cameras which can give me 0 latency, and doesn't weight 10 kilos and are huge?

The other option is to make a mutli WEBCAM setup, but as far as I read Resolume won't accept more than 2 webcams. It would be the best and cheapest solution, so maybe there is some way to overcome this? Some kind of external webcam multiviewer?

Any help would be appreciated!
