Im sure this is a stupid question... none the less I'm going to ask it.
Is it possible to have more than one input mask on a slice?
I am trying to achieve the following: I have two layers, each assigned to their own slice - A background and foreground. I want to mask the foreground layer into a square with several boxes punched out of its middle, so that you can see the layer underneath....
Im not sure why my brain can't figure this out (Or am I imagining doing this in mad mapper)?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Im using V5.1.4
Input Mask Query
Re: Input Mask Query
There is only one input mask per slice.
You actually don't even need the two slices, I'd do this the following way:
Create a PNG or JPG file that contains your mask
Drop that image on a layer above your background layers, and it will be used as a mask for any content you play in the layer.
This way you can use the mask on multiple layers without the need of complex output slice setups.

Re: Input Mask Query
Hi Ravensc,
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately pre prepared masks aren't an option, hence the need for doing it in the advanced output. The description I gave is rather simplified. In practice, its a mapping project on quite complex architecture, with a very tight get-in time (and no pre existing map guides/images). So it will all be done on the fly. As I could see, the input mask would be the only way of achieving the desired results - I guess I could faff making a PNG mask on-site, but this would then be inflexible for adjustments after projector settlement etc.
It seems like such a simple task to complete.... yet probably not possible within resolume on this occasion.

Re: Input Mask Query
Resolume's mapping workflow is mostly designed for shows where you have at least a general idea of what you're going to project on. Using the rough shape and approximate aspect ratios, you can create most if not all your content beforehand. All you need the advanced output for, is to align it to the actual surface.
If you really have no way to do this before show, the excellent Heavy-M and the excellent Madmapper both have very good 'let's-throw-it-at-the-wall-and-see-what-sticks" tools.
