Sudden loss of random midi buttons Akai Apc40 mk2

Post by boris.lema »

Hi,

I’m using the akai apc mk2 in combo with novation launch pad mk2.

After some time the apc losses functions and some buttons don’t work anymore. When reconnecting sometimes other buttons stop working. When I switch controllers (other apc 40) some work again and others stop working.
It’s very strange and always random buttons. Switched usb cables, nothing changed.

Like layer select, sometimes a opacity fader, sometimes a clip launch button,….

the problem started 2, 3 weeks ago.

Windows 11 server
Resolume arena 7.13.2 rev17774

Anyone having this problem or has a solution for this?

With Windows 11, nothing would surprise me, but do other buttons and feedback still work on the APC?

Maybe you have the shortcuts mapped to "This clip" target, and you're on a different deck?

Other buttons respond correct. All shortcuts work correct because when i switch to my other apc40 it works.
Its a random thing that happens at random times. Sometimes at startup it works correcly and after 1 or 2 hours layer 2 doesnt work anymore. (Like the whole line of channel 2), sometimes the top left part,...
I'm starting to think its the apc or some flat cable thats not connected correcly....
But than the color feedback would also turn off i guess, and its not.

Channel buttons in the APC40mk2 are soldered on the motherboard, but a crack on the board could cause weird issues.

Are both your APC40s connected at the same time?

Not connected at the same time. But my guess is the launch pad is the problem.
When i only use the apc40 i dont have any problems, when im plugin in the launch pad some button functions on the apc disable at random time, midi feedback stays oke. but im not getting any midi input, sometimes a whole channel line, sometimes the top right part, sometimes the bottem right part.
Also when you go to midi tab you cant change the apc modes you first have to disable and enable the apc midi output i order to get the dropdown. Tried every option every usb cable but no change.

1x APC40 mk2 and novation launchpad mk2 (round buttons on top en right side). Its very trange because i can change with 2 other apc40's and my oldest most used dont give any problems. A brand new one gives the most.
