ACP40mk2 shortage?

Post by AcdNrg »

I was about to buy a 2nd APC for my performance setup, but alas, it seems to be sold out pretty much everywhere. What happened?

Is it discontinued? Or just a delay because Akai is suffering from delivery chain issues like everybody else? Maybe a mk3 in the making?

Most importantly: What are alternatives? I thought about maybe MIDI fighter twister and a launchpad?

Torches and pitchforks!

So from a vendor perspective, which controller are you going to embrace next? Yes, I can use pretty much everything MIDI, but as with APC - some things will be closer to resolume than others. Anything you´re looking very close at?

I like the buttons on the launchpad mk2, nice tactile, the midi fighter controllers are very robust.
APC mini is nice too.

Akai MPD232 comes pretty close to the APC40

(2) F1's are pretty solid! I use magnets to make them into a single controller.

I decided to go with 1 or 2 launchpads and 2 MIDI Fighter Twisters.

Regarding MIDI Mapping: Is there a possibility to have multiple mappings? As in: Have one mapping for preparing a show and another for performing? I would assume the settings are stored in some file, I´d be happy with an option to load one or the other.

yes you can... with "midi mode" selected you can save and recall presets.
