Midi input is not triggering my clip

Hi, i've got midi being sent from a different application (gig performer) and i have one clip, as a test, setup in Resolume to trigger on the note on value sent from GP. I have the midi monitor open and i can see the input and the target says "Composition Layers 1 Clips 2 Connect" but the clip does not trigger. Any ideas what this isn't working or a better solution? thanks
