Animating slide-in-and-out of elements on clip triggering

I have a background for speakers' presentations, and I need to animate the appearing elements like session titles and sponsor logos so that they slide in from one side and slide out to the same side when I trigger a new clip. In other words, suppose there's a title; I trigger a scene with a presentation, and first the title rolls out to the left, then a screen with the presentation descends from above.
My first idea was to create this as a transparent video in After Effects, placing the elements on a canvas of the original resolution, but I suspect this isn't entirely optimal and there might be better ways.
Next thing is that organisators asked me if i could do a little animation - when presentation slides in from above - it is placed inside a stylised tv and they want it to display white noise or oldschool screen pattern (they haven't decided yet). So my thought was 3 layer system - top layer is tv itself, next comes white noise/pattern video and below that comes screen capture of presentation (of course after i'll figure out initial transition). Question is pretty much the same - is it reliable, or are there better ways to do this?
Tnx
