It was before midnight, mid show, no restart, no alt tab.

Of course setting it to not check is sensible.
Can you please explain why it would suddenly appear like that towards the end of a whole day.
It has never happened to me before and it's little things like that are unsettling.

It is set to check for updates and does it at start-up, (the update window goes behind the gui after it has loaded though).

Did a show Sunday night using v 7.22.3 rev 42822 (Lazy that I've not updated, I know).

An update on my progress with this issue.
I've been all around the houses trying to pinpoint where the bottleneck is and have had emails back and forth with Zoltán. Still not 100% sure we've found the definitive answer but it's now running stable enough for the time being.

I actually forgot it happens and thought I was seeing a ghost

Starting fresh this morning, I've replaced the Pro Res clips on a newly restarted machine. After about half an hour playback hangs began to happen. Email sent with comp attached.

I'm having a look at it again and running it now to see how it is behaving. About half an hour in to the test and I've seen one short +-2 second hang. (Since starting to write this it's hung a few more times, gradually getting worse each time ...

It's a bit weird for an expected behaviour when hitting the stop button clears both clips in transition.
