using a Roland spd-sx to trigger resolume

I'm new to this forum and Resolume. I've been efforting setting up a Roland SPD-SX drum pad to trigger Resolume clips via midi. My issue has been as I am selecting clips to trigger with an assigned pad in particular Kits, it works and to make sure that it saves I power everything off then back on and it seems to work fine. This makes me assume that I'm doing it right, however after the Roland and laptop have been powered off for an extended time, the triggers don't work. Resolume midi monitor acknowledges the commands but the clips do not get triggered.
I'm sure I'm doing something wrong and hopefully its simple, yet I can't figure out what I'm doing or lack there of.

Full disclosure, I'm also new to using midi. if anyone by chance is using this type of set-up, I could use some guidance. Thanks.

check the midi input in midi monitor in the preferences
does the incoming data match with the shortcuts you mapped?
