What do these 5 effects have in common please?

Post by Buhkee »

Hi all,

Any one of these five stock effects will tank my frame rate to about 10fps. Can you please tell me what they have in common so that I can try to find the solution?
  • Acuarela
    Bloom
    Dilate
Drop Shadow (only about 5fps hit)
    Pixel Blur
I'm running Resolume 7.23.1 on a Windows 11 machine with an up-to-date Nvidia 4060 RTX GPU.

Thank you for any info you may have!

Not sure about Acuarela, the other effects are heavy on the GPU.
Some effects may allow you to tune parameters (ie size/iterations/distance/interval) to make them lighter (but lower quality). You can also reduce the resolution at which these effects operate.
10fps sounds really low for default settings, so unless you're using a high resolution, mke sure you're running on the dedicated gpu and not the integrated one

Enable show display info in the output menu, check that the GFX line in your output says your nvidia GPU.
If it's not, you'll need to assing Resolume to use that GPU, either in the nvidia control panel or windows graphics settings.

Thank you for the replies. I made sure that;
The GFX Card says "NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU"
I will note that the "Renderer" says "Intel RaptorLake-S Mobile Graphics Controller". Is that something that can or should be changed?

Simply adding one of those five effects to my layer will tank the FPS, it doesn't even have to be triggered.

Thanks for any more advice!

Yes, the Renderer is more important actually, that should be your most powerful card.
Check the assignment in the Windows settings https://pureinfotech.com/set-default-gp ... indows-11/

SOLVED!

Thank you Zoltan, this was it. While I had used the Nvidia control panel to force Resolume to use the 4060 GPU, when I went into Windows Graphics settings it still had Resolume using the on-board GPU. Changing that to the 4060 now allows me to run those effects with no frame rate drop.

Thank you very much!
