Hello,
I’d like to know if any of you have managed to play large or very large video clips — for example, videos that are 60 or 90 minutes long.
Are there any restrictions regarding clip duration or file size?
An hour of DXV3-encoded video can easily take up several dozen gigabytes, so I’m wondering how well Resolume handles such files.
I’ve found a few answers to this question, but they’re quite old, and I’m wondering if recent updates may have changed things.

Resolume doesn’t really have a limit on clip length or file size. You can load a 60- or even 90-minute DXV3 file without any problem — what matters is how it’s encoded and how fast your drive is.
Resolume streams video straight from disk, it doesn’t load the whole thing into RAM. So as long as your SSD or NVMe can keep up, it’ll play just fine. On a spinning drive, though, those huge DXV files can cause stuttering, especially if you’re running multiple layers or effects.
The only real downside of very long files is that they take longer to start or seek through. DXV is built for real-time playback, not for jumping around inside a one-hour video. If you need to cue specific moments, it’s usually better to split the file into smaller chunks.
And definitely keep it DXV3 in a .mov container — that’s the most reliable combo.
So yeah, Resolume can handle it, but you’ll have a smoother ride if you break long videos into parts.
