Hey Resolume,
I am curious as to why I am now seeing the Wire watermark in Arena.
I upgraded my 2 X Arena licenses in November. I didn't bother to update my Wire licenses at the time and I have made sure that I am running the older version of Wire - 7.23.2 (which I re-install every time I update Arena, as Wire updates at the same time). Until recently this worked fine, as they are older Wire patches. But now I am seeing the Wire watermark when I run it in Arena.
Can you please explain what is going on?
I have a gig tomorrow and it looks like I will just have to re-install older versions of Arena to get around this.
I look forward to hearing from you...
Latest version of Arena, older version of Wire
Re: Latest version of Arena, older version of Wire
Arena always needs a legit Wire license for the same version that you are running if you want to load Wire patches.
To use your older patches without a watermark you can compile your patches with a Wire version that is covered by your Wire license, compiled patches can always run in Arena without a Wire license.

Re: Latest version of Arena, older version of Wire
Hi Christoph,
Arena always needs a legit Wire license for the same version that you are running if you want to load Wire patches.
So this means that I can only run Wire if it is the same version as Arena? I can't, for instance, run Arena 2.4.1 and use Wire 2.3.2 with it? If this is the case, what is the point of updating my Arena license for another year?

Can you please explain what you mean by "compiling". Does this mean I have to re-load my Wire patches from an older version every time I update Arena?
I look forward to hearing from you.
Cheers,
Paddy

Re: Latest version of Arena, older version of Wire
To run (non-compiled) Wire patches in Arena you need to have a Wire license. This Wire license has to be eligible for the same version that your are running Arena. You can purchase another year of updates for your Wire license as well if you want full compatibility of Wire and Arena.elbundlo wrote: Mon Feb 16, 2026 09:54 So this means that I can only run Wire if it is the same version as Arena? Check out this article on how patch compiling works:elbundlo wrote: Mon Feb 16, 2026 09:54 Can you please explain what you mean by "compiling". Does this mean I have to re-load my Wire patches from an older version every time I update Arena?

Basically if you create a patch with a Wire version that you like and you're happy with that patch and want to use that with Arena, even with Arena versions that are not covered by your Wire license - then you can compile your patch in that Wire version that you have a license for, this compiled patch can then be used with any version of Arena (any version that is equal or higher than the version that was used to compile the patch) and doesn't require any Wire license.
Does this make things more clear?

Got it!
A bit of a ball-ache but at least it gets around the problem.
Just as well I don't use Wire a great deal of the time....
