These were recorded over a year ago, but I just now got permission to put some segments online. These are recordings from Chaos Theory 3, Kansas City - BT and Junkie XL. Pictures of this show are in this forum somewhere too.
The catch? They are only 8 minutes or so each, and they're on myspace.com
Junkie XL
BT
Enjoy!
live set - BT, Junkie XL - now online
nice one! i notice you mixed in some of the Hidden Partitions DVD on the BT mix.
i really enjoyed the BT double cd a few years ago, the one with the remixes on it. great to see that he also mixes live.
cool city background at the beginning of the junkieXL mix. and then the windfarm background! i like it, subtle comment, effecting the move towards sustainable energy sources..

the wind farm has even more meaning than that - this particular event was at a venue that was entirely powered by wind. they were giving out hand held fans explaining this to the crowd.
Just another note - both junkie xl and bt were doing live pa performances... bt calls his a "laptop symphony". I may add just a little more video from each of them that has camera work mixed in so everyone can see this.

cool, so he was making lapdance music?
on the subject of names, titles, etc., imho 'pa' somehow references the term P.A. system, like a public announcement system.. speakers and a mixing desk. however it is relevant and as soon as you mention the term 'pa' i do understand you mean Personal Appearance. i guess a pa means they mix their own tracks live, rather than a dj mixing other people's music.
re/ enlightened energy source
here in australia they have commited 500 million towards a solar plant, generating enough power to run a small city/large town. we need more than that.
actually a friend is doing a documentary on an inventor who has figured out how to magnify the sun to get more power, and also store the energy that is collected in a better way. there really is a bright future for clean energy if the efficiency of technique can be optimised. sort of like vj loops i guess.

when i say they are doing a live pa, it's not so much that they are just mixing their own stuff live instead of other peoples. Take the turntables out of the picture altogether. They are playing the music on synthesizers, samplers, laptops, etc. They are performing the music live, not mixing records or cd's - it's a one man show involving many instruments.
ah yes, thanks for more fully explaining 'pa'.
i guess those two gigs were extremely enjoyable? like, a real vibe of creativity going on, with the knowledge of everyone going 'yeah, this is seriously talented stuff'.
in '98 i started experimenting with live gigs, using a portable yamaha sequencer, an a3000 sampler, a nordlead synth, and a stratocaster with effects. pretty amazing feeling to be playing live, kind of like VJ-ing in a way.
back to the topic of wind farms, Belgium is investing 800 million euro into a wind turbine energy farm. pretty smart thinking imho. they will not have to answer to the countless millions in the future who turn around and say "why use coal and nuclear energy when so many better alternatives are there before you?".
