Hi all,
I have a big question about laptops with the Centrino chipset.
Does someone of you use this sort of laptop with vj-ing?
And is the standard Intel GFX chip ok or do I have to look for a laptop with an Ati 9000 chipset?
Do I also have to upgrade the harddisk to an 5400 RPM disk?
I'm looking forward to the answers.
Centrino laptop?
I have an Asus m6n 1.7 with a gig of ram. The thing runs better than my desktop pentium 4. Definitely get the hitachi 7200 rpm drive though, you'll thank yourself later. Great buy and looks pretty sweet as well. Played a gig with live band and LTJ Bukem last weekend for over 6 hours straight. no problems. Big props to the Resolume team!

I don't use a Centrino, but have a laptop with a 1.7Ghz Pentium M (same as Centrino, without the wireless chipset).
I can run 3 layers at 320x240, with multiple effects. For the most part manage to get 30-40fps. Only very rarely do I get stalling/frame drops. I can run 1 layer at 640x480, with limited effects, get about 18-20 fps.
The 7200RPM hard disk is key - a similar laptop with a 5400RPM drive can't keep up.
