4+1 screen output PC build

Post by robbo321 »

Hi!

I want to trigger independent videoclips to four lcd tv:s. No effects, just simple start and stop.

I´m considering this pc build.

Intel Core i5 3570K 3,4 Ghz
PowerColor HD7870 Eyfinity 6 2GB GDDR5 (1000Mhz)
http://www.powercolor.com/global/produc ... asp?id=415

2TB Seagate Barracuda SATA 6Gb/s 7200rpm
SSD 128GB A-Data SATA3 2.5", MLC, SP9000
MK Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H Z77, ATX
Corsair 8GB (kit) DDR3 1866MHz/CL9/VENGEANCE x2

+ some monitor for resolume

LG 37" LCD-TV 37LK430 x4
http://www.komplett.se/k/ki.aspx?sku=647319#extra

Will this work?

All input and help is much appreciated! /R

Well.. it didn´t.

The graphic card didn´t work with allthe displays. I didn´t try with active adapters but with AMD validated adapters (none active).

If you´re trying it out, try using active adapters and watch out for STARTECH MINI-DISPLAYPORT TO HDMI ACTIVE VIDEO ADAPTER. It is not an active adapter despite the name. Which i would have known if i read the description more carefully.

Ok since the post had 300 views I´ll post what I did as a successful build instead. (Successful for now..)

First of all I updatet to the latest beta driver from nvidia. The settings in 3d Graphics makes no difference to me with the vertical sync on or off. Dont even know what it does but from reading post regarding the matter all over the internet this is one recommended thing. "turn vertical mode off". And I must say that I use it for nothing but to play clips, no effects. Dont know what it holds up to. I really dont know much about computers. Well if there is someone else like me who doesnt know shit, this is what i did.

You must choose one of the outputs from the Nvidia as primary screen othervise you´ll get low fps.

Intel Core i5 3570K 3,4 Ghz
Nvidia Geforce gtx 670
MK Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H z77, ATX
Corsair 8GB DDR3 1866MHz/Cl9/VENGEANCE
PSU CORSAIR TX 850W V2 /80+ Bronze
SSD 128GB A-Data SATA3 2,5", MLC, SP9000
2TB Seagate Barracuda SATA 6Gb/s 7200rpm
Kab ATX CM Elite 334U

some crap monitor
4 lcd screens with HDMI
HDMI from the motherboard
displayport HDMI adapter
DVI HDMI adapter cable.

Sorry to here about your frustrations. I'm running a hd7970 card with 6 outputs with pretty good success. I do use displayport active dvi adapters from startech.

The function of vertical sync is to match your framerate with your vertical refresh. So in north America if your running 1920x1080@60htz. This option should lock your framerate to 60. No real benefit of having your video refresh faster then your monitor or projector is capable of. In fact most of what we watch is at half of the vertical refresh. IE. most North America video is 30fps.

However I disable this option because I believe that resolume or amd does not properly have this working with multiple displays. In arena having vertcal sync enable with one monitor you lock in at 60 fps but as you add a second display you drop to 40fps add a third and now your in trouble with 20fps. Having this disabled I typically get 65-90 fps no matter how outputs I use.

Also I've found staying at ccc 12.4 helps.
