Capture Card with RCA/BNC inputs

Post by arindamliveguitar »

I need a capture card that can capture Composite CVBS video or BNC. Basically i'm looking for a card with RCA or BNC inputs. I'm running Resolume 4.1.3 on Windows 7 64 bit and have a Gigabyte z77 Mx D3H mobo. I'm not too sure about the Blackmagic Intensity products because of their incompatibility with certain motherboards. Also their Intensity pro PCI does not have a composite RCA or BNC input. (and i do not have a thunderbolt port)

Please suggest a capture card with RCA/BNC in that works with Windows7 and Resolume... Thanks :)

intensity pro does have composite input via RCA connector.

It goes into the green RCA connection on the input of the breakout adapter. You can also send it S-video with an adapter that it comes with.

my opinion, intensity pro is overkill. All you need is a USB capture dongle. Unless you want to do higher res stuff in the future, then go with the intensity pro. It works good with R4

I basically need it when i am running large LED walls. Due to hardware constraints of my LED sending card, i have to use a matrox triplehead2go to connect a large led wall(for example 1600x900 pixels). For such a case, to show live feed i want to use a capture card.

Stickygreen is right on the money. Grab a pci intensity pro, it can handle what you want. But using composite is gonna look pretty stretched making it fit a 1600x900 LED. Using Sdi may be a better fit for your budget since your LED walls are so big. Have you tested your triplehead into the led controller? In my experience alot of LED wall controllers don't work with digital tripleheads.

Yes you are correct. Whenever i am using DVI to HDMI cables from the triplehead2go the 3rd one always gives trouble. However if i switch to VGA connections from all 3 outs, it works flawlessly though the color reproduction of the VGA is nothing close to the DVI

Coming back to the capture card thing, most of the clients that i have worked with for some reason always have cvbs out from the camera guys. So i am kind of forced to think about that while deciding on a capture card
