Black Magic Intensity Pro - BS

Post by hive8 »

Black Magic Hardware is the worth capture card i have ever seen. I got 2 cards PCI, they work whenever they want, and when they work they have a strange behavior. I have set my HDMI to 60i, by itself the card switches to 30p. Then when i disconnect half the time my computer blue screens. Half the times it cant even find the HDMI signal from the same computers as connected before.

Is there something better then this BMD stuff.

How about EMS Imaging?

I do festivals and raves and clubs in a live environment and need something that works, not causes problems all the time. I am ready to throw out all this BMD hardware.

I get more and more problems with BMD as time goes on. I have a Decklink Duo/4k Extreme in a server and only 1 card works at once (even though BMD says both should work together, they don't).

I constantly have to switch resolutions/refresh rates to get a receive video from a new computer.
EX:
2 identical MBP, 1080i, which translates into 1080p@29.97 on BMD devices.
1 Mac, "find" the resolution and video play fine. Connect second laptop and have to eject clip, change refresh or resolution, sometimes restart computer. HDMI miniconverters sometimes need a power cycle even though the EDID light is on. no consistency in their equipment.

Even with the UltraStudio SDI, I have to change resolutions to find the SDI source, several times. HDMI out for preview never works.

BMD support is useless. I have close to 40 support tickets open with them about problems with different converters and cards, with no fixes! They would rather release new hardware instead of working on existing stuff.

I just purchased the Datapath VisionDVI-DL for DVI capture up to 4kx4k. Epiphan makes a USB3 DVI capture.

Haven't tried the stuff from EMS, but as long as it's DirectShow compatible it should work.

Disclaimer: These are not at all problems with Resolume, strictly BMD problems. These issues happen across multiple computers and different programs

Good thing I'm reading this as my company was looking into these options. Guess we don't do it after seeing a lot of complains about Black Magic Design.

Great. Computers will recognize EDID of the card no issue. No configuring needed other than installing the drivers.
Input is flipped in Arena, which is an easy fix - just throw flip effect on. Joris already responded to my issue about this over viewtopic.php?f=12&t=11129
