R4 completely busted - won't play clips!

Hi

I used R4 about 3 weeks ago and it was fine, but now, it won't play any clips. I click the clip thumbnail but it doesn't appear in the active clip slot. I have tried different formats (MOV, SWF), different versions of R4 (4.2.1, 4.1.11), existing sets and new set with a single DXV clip with the same result. I have rebooted, and reinstalled 4.2.1 with the same result. No clip playback.

Clips play fine in the preview.

If I click the clip name, its parameters do load into the Clip section, but I cannot launch any clip. Clicking a clip does not make it the active clip in any layer.

What the heck is causing this? Is there some way I can work out what the problem is? Is there a log file I can send to HQ?

Win 7Prox64, 2GB NVidia 650M etc etc. Same spec as always.

there is a feedback tab in preferences where you can view and send the log file.

next step I would do is renaming the config file, and keeping the bad one for debugging.
reinstalling does not reset arena settings to default, but this will.

edit: config location is C:\Users\[username]\Documents\Resolume Arena 4\preferences\config.xml

Same Problem here.
Maybe the problem are systemupdates?
I make these updates yesterday:
- QuickTime 7
- Java 7 Update 80
- Adobe Flash Player 18 NPAPI + ActiveX
- 15 Windows-Updates

My System is Win7Pro (64bit) . R4.2.1 running well till Saturday

then, try if you can find a system restore point for the updates,an roll back.
and switch off automatic updates.

I renamed config.xml and started R4.2.1. When the "Do you want to copy stuff over from v3 dialog" came up, I clicked "Yes" and R4.2.1 bombed, and now it bombs every time I launch.

4.1.11 runs but clips still will not play.

UPDATE: If I start R4.2.1 and drag a DXV clip into an empty set it does play. However, the large VJ set I have been using does not play clips.

If I load the large VJ set, and then click "New Composition" and drag a clip into the new set, it does not play. I have to exit R4 to get the clip in the empty set to play. So whatever is causing the problem with the large set remains a problem during a single R4 session.

UPDATE 2: I noticed that when I load the large VJ set, it appeared that all the Composition level effects were missing. However, when I added another Composition level effect, all the existing ones appeared in the list with the new one at the end, as if the original ones were just not being listed in the GUI for some reason.

UPDATE 3: In a different large VJ set, I am unable to switch decks. The decks are listed but clicking on the tabs does nothing.

It sounds like your large VJ sets are using up the available RAM, VRAM or both.

Can you give us a bit more info on the sets? How many clips do you have in your deck, what resolution are they, what resolution is the comp, what codecs are you using, any still files or just video, etc etc...

My Composition has 7 Decks (each with about 30 png and 30-50 effects total)
Some of the decks were "closed"
Now i have open all the decks (SAVE COMP after opening a deck -> Then RE-OPEN COMP)
Since all decks are open in the Compositon, Resolume works / and i can change decks without problems

I still think, that the SystemUpdates i did yesterday is my problem....

Looks like there's trouble in Flash town again.
