Audio Interface Removal and BPM Sync

Post by AdevProjects »

When I have a usb external audio interface selected in Preferences, and when a clip is playing that is set to bpm sync, if the audio interface gets unplugged, the beat indicator stops along with the transport of the playing clip. Resolume is still otherwise functioning and any clips that are set to timeline are unaffected. This is fixed when you select another audio device or re-select the original device after plugging it back in.

Is this a bug?
I would have thought that the clock / timer for bpm sync would be separate from the audio device (I assume the sample rate?). Is it a bad idea to have it separate from the audio device?

The audio card of a computer is designed to do high precision timing calculations, so Resolume uses the audio interface for all things that internally require critical timing, like BPM Sync. This is why you always need to have an active audio device for Resolume to work properly.
