crackling/ processing sound appears when resolume is on

was wondering if i could get some help?

I have been running Resolume on windows 8.1. recently I have been playing movies through the system and I have started to hear this crackling/ processing sound in the background. At first I thought it was the audio I had converted, but them i noticed it start up as soon as I opened Resolume. Its Driving me mental. for the sound I usually have a 3.5 mm jack plugged into the green LR, then that go's into the mixer. The cracking/ processing sound stops when I close the program. Does anyone have any Idea how to stop this?

- Press the clip with the audio
- crackling starts
- then happens every time i click on a button

does adjusting the buffer size in Preferences- Audio help with that?

Not really, there is a slight change but its still there.

is this a laptop?
are you hearing the noise when another app uses the dedicated graphics?
you could have a ground loop which could amplify the mainboard processing noises, try to unplug the power if ti's a laptop, or tape the ground connector of the PSU cord - Just for the test!

no its not a laptop, custom built pc.

I have no other apps on while I run Resolume. I would defiantly describe it as a processing type sound.

Can you show us your Resolume audiosettings? samplerate, buffersize and playback device.

A few questions:
- Are you using a DI box?
- how long is your cable?
- have you tried with a different cable?
- do you get the same issue if you plug a headset in the green port?
- is the audio out on your MB or your enclosure?
