I got a problem with Resolume Arena receiving Artnet from another computer.
I'm using Resolume Arena for quiet a few years now. Everything was working fine in Arena 4.1.3 - Arena 4.1.7 but after updating to 4.2.2 (and now even Arena 5) it seems like there is a delay 1-2 sec until Arena receives the Artnet commands. I even tried to use different computers to be sure the issue isn't caused by the system or network configuration.
Since I couldn't find a solution for the problem I ended up going back to Arena 4.1.3. But since Arena 5 was released I would really like to use the new features and hoped that the delay problem has been fixed by that version but apparently it hasn't and even with Resolume 5.0.1 I still have that Artnet delay.
Do you have any solutions for this?
Artnet delay
Re: Artnet delay
Is your other computer set to Unicast or Broadcast?
Re: Artnet delay
The other program won't let me choose between Unicast or Broadcast. So it's set to broadcast. Do you think that could be the problem? If so, why it just happened since Arena 4.2.2?Oaktown wrote:Is your other computer set to Unicast or Broadcast?
Re: Artnet delay
I use Luminair and I've noticed that Artnet gets choppy and has some latency in Arena 5 when I set it to broadcast vs unicast.
My assumption is that the Resolume devs added a lot of Artnet bandwidth with the addition of Lumiverses and things are not quite there yet judging by how many artnet threads there are.

Allright, thanks for the answer. So I guess I will end up buying the Enttec DMX USB Pro Interface, so I just don't need to use Artnet anymore.Oaktown wrote:I use Luminair and I've noticed that Artnet gets choppy and has some latency in Arena 5 when I set it to broadcast vs unicast.

Re: Artnet delay
Are you on a Mac or PC? People (including myself) have been having issues with Enttec DMX USB Pro and El Capitan so read through the forum as there are a few thread on the topic.Allright, thanks for the answer. I personally use the Enttec ODE (which is Artnet) almost exclusively and it works great! If you can send DMX data to the USB Pro, then you can send DMX data to the ODE. You can even get the ODE with POE (Power Over Ethernet) so that you can use a power injector and place the unit close to the first light or dimmer to avoid having a long run of DMX cable.
