I've got about 20 hours of mapping ahead of me for a complex zig zag LED node string irregular grid layout. I've been accumulating quite a collection of fixture definitions. I'm using descriptive names like 2x13LD to indicate a region which begins in the upper right corner, increments to the left and zigs down to the next row.
My question is, has anyone already done zig zag mapping like this and ended up with a library of fixture xml files that they'd like to share?

I'm actually kind of interested in the setup you need to pixelmap. We might be able to cook up some better workflows for it.

I'm mapping a burning man art car that has over 9000 led string node pixels which are installed in all sorts of irregular zig zag patterns within rectangular and triangular regions. Being able to draw with a pencil like tool on a snapping grid with auto address breaking for universe limits would be swell

Sounds intense. Any chance you could send over some details so we can get an idea of the complexity? If we're going to design a pen tool, we need to know what it needs to do first

This is what I think Resolume needs, to make it viable as a pixel mapping tool for anything more than simple lines:
1) Create groups of fixtures that span multiple universes and can easily be selected, scaled and controlled, and DMX values easily changed, call it a zone/shape/area/whatever
2) Fixtures should be able to bridge multiple universes, shouldn't have to create a new fixture just because the line of pixels is more than 170 pixels, that's not how it works on most pixel controllers so it doesn't make sense to have to do it in Resolume.
3) Custom shaped fixtures, a fully custom shape that can be drawn and then used over and over again
4) Webcam auto searching and mapping (Like Mapio, Would be awesome but doubt we'll see it on res)

I ended up with 218 fixtures after mapping 61 universes...

Holy shitballs. Thank you very much for the screenshot and the fixture library. I can't tell you how helpful it is to have an actual practical example of the problem we need to fix.
